The Journey of Crafting Private Label Chocolate Moulds

At Hames Chocolates, we pride ourselves on the precision and artistry involved in creating bespoke private-label chocolate moulds. This journey, from initial concept to final production, is a meticulous process that ensures the highest quality for unique private label chocolate products.

By having Hames create your own chocolate moulds you can have completely bespoke chocolates for your brand. You choose everything about the chocolate: the size, the shape & the design.

Here's a detailed timeline that outlines the key stages and associated costs involved in bringing your custom chocolate moulds to life over a standard, 8 – 10 week lead time.

Stage 1: Initial Design and Briefing
Cost: £300

The journey begins with understanding your vision. Upon receiving your brief, the design team collaborates with you to create a visual representation of your desired mould. This initial design phase costs £300, which covers the development of the concept and ensures that your ideas are accurately translated into a workable design.

Stage 2: Tooling and Sample Creation
Cost: £1250 - £5000

Once the design is finalised, we move on to the tooling stage. The cost of tooling can vary significantly, typically ranging between £1250 and £5000. This variation depends on the complexity of the mould—3D moulds for hollow products, such as Easter eggs or chocolate figurines, are more expensive to create compared to simpler 2D moulds for chocolate bars.

Key Steps:

1. Visual Creation: A detailed visual layout is created from the approved design.
2. Physical Single Cavity Sample: An initial single cavity sample is produced to give a tangible feel of the mould. We use this initial cavity sample to create a hand made chocolate product for you to approve.
3. Approval and Amendments: Any necessary adjustments are made based on your feedback. These amendments must be done before you sign off approval of the tooling.

Stage 3: Production Order and T1 Sample

Cost: £350 - £450

After the tooling is approved, we can commence to production of a finished mould which we call the T1 sample.

This T1 sample phase is critical as it allows us to trial the chocolate mould on our production lines and ensure they meet expected standards.

Key Steps:
  1. T1 Sample Approval: We use these initial T1 samples to agree final product weights and quality checks.
  2. The product specification can be finalised for your private label chocolate product.

Stage 4: Full Production and Delivery

Upon approval of the T1 samples, the moulds can proceed to full-scale production. Depending on the volume of product, the set of moulds required typically ranges from 100 to 1000 units. The cost of these moulds can vary between £10 and £150 each, with hollow chocolate product moulds being at the higher end of the spectrum due to their complexity.

Key Steps:
1. Mould Layout Creation: A technical drawing is produced from the approved design, facilitating the production of the full set of moulds.
2. Quantity Production and Delivery: The required quantity of moulds is produced and delivered to our facility.
3. Now we can start production of your chocolate products
