RASFF Alert for Contamination of Soy Lecithin
On 19 April 2022, the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) alerted the European food and feed industry about the potential presence of peanut protein in soybean lecithin from India.
Soyabean Lecithin is widely used in food production and is frequently used as an emulsifier in chocolate other confectionery products.
As soon as Hames Chocolates Limited became aware of the situation we contacted our raw material suppliers, who have confirmed after their own internal investigations that, none of the raw materials that we purchase for Hames Chocolates Ltd have been affected by the potential peanut contamination.
In addition, our chocolate raw material suppliers have introduced additional controls and testing on all future incoming batches of lecithin moving forwards.
Therefore, based on our current information, the chocolate products supplied to you have not been impacted. We will continue to monitor the situation closely with our suppliers.
